The Dream

by Michael Charles Messineo — Read all 96 poems by Michael Charles Messineo

Dreams are sometimes too real.

Friday, January 9, 2004

It must be a dream
but how do I wake
these unreal emotions
left here by fate

It could be a dream
I am really not sure
I see your life flashing
left by my heart pure

It cant be a dream
it does not make sense
Our love is not bought
it leases and rents

It might be a dream
there is really no reason
to experience love
like changing of seasons

It is a real dream
but how do I know
you packed all your things
and I watched you just go

The dream was a nightmare
I see you still here
we fought then we slept
without making it clear.

I am sorry.

I had a couple that had been married for 60 years one time tell me that the secret to a lifetime together was founded on two things. Hard work and the fact that they never ever let their eyes close at night with harsh words unsolved between them. Excellent work of emotions here Michael. Lisa
