As the seed must die and fall
And by the soil be covered,
The miracle of new birth
Is about to be discovered,
Soaked by moisture in the earth,
It swells, its’ roots submerging,
While up above new life begins
New shoots are soon emerging.
Through wind and rain
And sun’s hot flame,
The tender shoot will reach and strain
Toward the sky, the light its’ aim.
It’s growing stronger by the minute
But only when God’s hand is in it.
While facing all life’s joy and pain
With faith, patience and perseverance,
And knowing all it has to gain
God’s plan fulfilled, it fruits in season,
Let me, Lord, be like that seed
To die, yet live and glorify thy name.
