When you are invisible,
you can't be ripped off,
slandered or ridiculed,
but it is hard to stay
invisible for very long.
Sooner or later it becomes
necessary to assume solid form.
You know -- you have to bank,
buy groceries, make a living.
You have to deal with other people.
And then there are those
particular voices that call to you,
voices from which you
cannot turn away, no matter
how invisible you long to be.

A powerful piece of writing, Steve, which I imagine will say different things to different people. "Particular voices" is a very compelling phrase, quite a shift after the mundane observations in the preceding lines. Very nicely done.
Some days I wish so hard that I was invisible (today being one of them)and you're right - there are things that force you to show yourself and then there those darned voices...
Very astutely put and well timed too.
