I CAN HEAR THE MUSIC
NOT ENOUGH TO GO ROUND
ITS WEAK AND LOW
BARELY A WHISPER
SING LOUDER
IF YOU PLEASE
TO BLOCK OUT THIS
EVIL SOUND
THERE ARE TEARS
IN THEIR EYES
AND SUCH PAIN
IN THE HEARTS
THE ROADS THEY THINK
HAVE ALL BEEN BLOCKED
THEY SEE NO AVENUE
OF ESCAPE
SO THEY STAY........
WALLOWING IN THEIR WASTE
THEY STICK NEEDLES
IN THEIR ARMS
POWDER UP THEIR NOSE
CREATING EVEN MORE NOISE
THOUGHTS ALL CLUTTERED
PERCEPTION ALL BUT GONE
CHILDREN SITTING WATCHING
IT ALL,
HUNGRY........
ABUSED...........
SO VERY ANGRY AND AFRAID
THEY GO TO THE STREETS
SELL SOME DRUGS
BUY A GUN
STEAL A CAR
JUST TO HAVE SOME FUN
KNOCK OVER A STATION
KILL SOMEONE
NOW THEY HEAR A DIFFERENT
SONG
I COULD TRAVEL ACROSS
THE SEA
TO LEND A HELPING HAND
BUT POLITICS HAVE NEVER
BEEN THAT IMPORTANT TO ME
NOW IN MY LATER YEARS
ON MY SOAP BOX I STAND.........
SAYING,
TAKE A LOOK RIGHT HERE
REACH OUT TO THIS COUNTRY'S MAN
REACH OUT..........
GRAB HOLD OF A CHILD'S HAND
TELL THEM YOU LOVE THEM
DON'T LOOK AT THE COLOR
RACE OR CREED
JUST LOOK DOWN INSIDE
YOU'LL FIND THEIR NEED
I'LL LEAVE THE WAR
OVERSEAS ALONE
THERE ARE OTHERS MORE ABLE
TO INTERCEDE
MY SOAP BOX WILL BE
LOOKING AT THE CHILD
LOOKING BACK AT ME
I'LL REACH OUT MY HAND
DO ALL THAT I CAN
FOR THESE ARE
MY "FELLOW" MAN
I'LL TRY TO SING LOUDER

PHENOMENAL.....PERFECT WRITTEN EXPRESSION!!!
I always put it like this when I absolutely love love love a poem
,but you have written a creative beauty with all the intertwinig
of rhyming every verse. I was replete with captivation!
You reached me and you touched me deep.
I relate to a lot of you say here.
I experienced the associator's life in the past...and I have never
been arrested or broken the law , I have gone far and never
hurting a soul and maintaining my own morals , ethics and ideals
and Thank God as it was /is by His Devine grace that I didn't...
But you encompassed such a spectrum of pain that doesn't have to be
and shown the contents of your caring heart by maintaining your
hope in human kind and Your offering all.....
I can go on and on....!!!
