Where was I going
I couldn't rightly say
So I carried a candle to light my way
My light wasn't all that bright
but perhaps its brighter than
where I was
Living a life, with empty
Love
I've found my journey
took me through valleys deep
several times I've stilled my feet
Fear of the unknown
bound me once or twice
but the promise
of a brighter tomorrow
drew me on
Through forest black and deep
so dense
I couldn't see for all the tree's
I, even in fear
moved on
remembering a dream of early on
A mountain top I stood
looking at a world I understood
a life that placed no blame
and expected no daily pain
No drink, No drugs,
No more empty promises
Just a simple promise of
mostly happy tomorrows
Rivers, swift and deep
boulders here and there
meant for nothing but to block my way
I paddled across
sinking often
thinking at times to just give up and sink
but then my small light shined through
and I went on my way
I continued on with my life
life and true love
I hoped to find
someone that cared
that Loved
to share in this life of mine
So now here I sit
journey not quite finished yet
But I can see past yesterdays sorrows
and
I anticipate all the beautiful tomorrows
