With every hesitant step
I walk away from the shadows
That perceive me as enemy
Jarred awake by cruel passions
Of hungry thieves in the night
Faceless entities that shimmer
Beyond the realm of light
Feasting under the veil of darkness
I turn back my head to see nothing
But from the corner of my eyes
I perceive it’s presence, still
And yet, I walk with fortitude
Knowing the shadow is but a dream
An imitation of the real life I live
A solid force that wipes away
All the cobwebs of age old pain
And sweeps away all the dust
from the shadowy floor.
One of your best poems I have read!
Peace, love, and light,
