This is about conserving water and how money can't buy everything necessary to life on this planet.
Our Liquid Gold
A zephyr ruffled the surface, of the icy lake
That took a hundred thousand men, many years to make
And as I see the sunlight, riding on a wave
I marvel at those strong hands that came together and gave
Everything they had, to help build the dam
That now stands as proudly, as any merino ram
Thank you to those foreigners, who brought with them their skills
To build the Snowy Hydro, up here in the hills
Maybe Spirit guided them to achieve such a wondrous thing
That provides our liquid gold and helps the birds to sing
But in this sunburned country, since half a century later
The need for conserving water, is far, far, greater
Water, not gold, will be our savior,
But to bring about this turnaround, we need to change our behavior
And take heed of the warnings, about global warming
As well as thanking the Spirit, for giving us this warning
Also spare a thought, for those hundred thousand men
Who used muscles, brains, and courage and perhaps a little Zen.
Wonderful thoughts about our ability to adapt… To change… When things are required for our well-being and survival. Clean water is becoming a severe problem throughout the world, and we should be the leaders in coming up with ways to solve problems like this… Like we always have… In the past. Not looking backward, but learning from history, and moving forward into a better future than we ever imagined.
