The Tyrant is subdued

Today the world celebrates
A tyrant subdued...
They see him outside themselves,
Afar and apart...

But he has dwelt within for eons!

The world is a mirror,
Not afar -  but near,
Not apart -  but one with us.

What we see in the mirror
Is what we perceive as truth...
What we think is real...
What we believe we are.

What we praise  - is ourselves,
What we condemn  -  is but
The tyrant within.

Today - together - we see
The tyrant subdued.

Let us now celebrate together
The symbol of our captor
Now in chains,
For it is only we who have
Freed ourselves.
