What is this emotion that fills my soul

LOVE.

What is love? How does one explain,
That peculiar feeling that exquisite pain,
there is nothing like it, it is a thing apart
We say rhat it is emotion that comes right from the heart .

For centuries all the poems, songs and ballads sung,
Have grappled with the question, and have hardly just begun,
To express inner feelings truly and bring them into view,
So that someone can explain it, in words concise and true .

Emotions oh so basic, mans love for fellow man,
It doesn`t stand to reason or follow any plan,
When tragedies and disasters strike our brothers down,
Love motivates the assistance swiftly rallied round.

A childs love for a puppy is a basic instinct too,
Much the same as what I`m feeling, when I say I do love you,
A welling of emotion, that swamps and floods the mind,
Unspoken thoughts so mutual, between couples of like mind.

Love takes up many guises, just feelings for a friend,
Is a warming of emotions which in love could end.
The love between a family, an everlasting bond,
Cements and holds together, all those of whom we`re fond.

Yes love is many feelings expressed in different ways,
A gamut of emotions which is with us all our days,
As long as we can feel it and share it all around,
Our lives will be rhe richer and with happiness abound.
