High On Pot

A couplet poem about getting high on drugs.

Some folks get high on pot all the time;

eventually they find out, their brain like chyme.

Some get the munchies, others can't get enough sex;

then there are those who become their spouses ex.

Some remain in bondage, some go to jail;

then there's the tragedy of utter blackmail.

Some go on to speed, some go on to coke;

little do they know, on them is the joke.

Drugs and pornography, profitable businesses they are;

nothing but vice, perpetuating a very deep scar.

Marijuana for sure, the potential for medicinal value;

is there any evidence, is there any virtue?

There are those who heed the call, getting high with God;

not a Rocky Mountain high, simply steadfast - love's nod.

The arousal of their conscience, reality sets them free;

they escape that nasty monster, now a bona fide refugee.

Some folks get high on pot all the time;

what a way of life, a depraved paradigm.

Getting high on drugs is artificial and consequential;

although preferential, it becomes pestilential.

These Black and Blue Red Zone Days by Aberjhani

Just as life during the pandemic was color-coded with different hues representing different levels of danger, life in its aftermath has become shaded in similar ways. As a self-styled “Seeker of Beauty with Beauty,” (borrowing from a quote by W.E.B.
