A couplet poem about that phone while driving.

Yes, we are social creatures;

nowadays more folks on the stretchers.

You've driven north to south in the city;

you're still on the phone, what a pity.

You impede the traffic flow;

you're just not in the know.

Drivers toot their horn at you;

flip them the bird, you certainly do!

Your chances of survival are slim;

is that all you can do is grin?

Just keep it up, stay distracted;

your doom only to be protracted.

Your risk-taking could be murder;

looks like your senses lack a strong girder.

Someday you may pay a high price;

kind of like a rolling of the dice.

Yes, we are social creatures;

let's not turn into a bunch of twitchers.

Please lay off that phone while driving;

where is your brain, just condescending?

Some people takes on a completely new character when they are behind the wheels of a car. Very strange, but so true!!!!

Unfortunately, I talk to people on the road all the time. It seems like the only time they can talk. I know how dangerous it is, having had some close calls while just adjusting the radio on the dash. I don't own a cell phone, so you won't see me talking while I'm driving my wheelchair. I run into hazards enough, like sidewalk drop offs, often enough, without the distraction of trying to talk on the phone at the same time.

A friend of mine told me that she could read the newspaper spread across her steering wheel while commuting to work. One day she looked up and ran into the back end of the car in front of her without braking. What a nice surprise. Unfortunately, when she wasn't reading while driving, she was a maniac behind the wheel, often passing me as we approached work, in some kind of macho street racing mode that I didn't quite understand in a residential neighborhood with occasional pedestrian obstacles to worry about.
