There they are across the street;
day after day, never missing a beat.
She looks to the left, then to the right;
he just sits there, the day's highlight.
You walk outside, she waves hello;
who knows what she'll do tomorrow.
They both go in for lunch, now they're back outside;
after tens hours or so they go in with the tide.
For two weeks straight the ambulance came;
the cops came too, what a blasted shame.
One day it was him, the next day it was her;
the EMT's and cops were in quite a stir.
We'll all get there someday ya know;
those golden years minus all the gusto.
Whe knows if we'll be just looking around all day;
we put in our time, resilience has its way.
There they are across the street;
day after day, never missing a beat.
Summer turns into fall, they savor the foliage;
together they pass on through their life's voyage.
