My confessional about drugs, my youth, my old age and the wonder at their despicaple necessity today.
The mirror blanched a rubbery neck
back to me tonight
Its the only part that appears old
the rest Adonis like
Good genes all smooth and right
Until you follow the fan beneath the chin
Swallowing drugs to the time-worn heart
Just as to the young man
The stupefied coursed so fast
Quickly hand-to-hand syringed to vein
That twenty-something; I was drugged immortal.
Searing my heart back then until
Anticipating this old age must pay the price for youths mad rush
Feeble kindness falling to shreds
Little beats rapidly flow
Until now there are new drugs to pretend the rush
I swallow pills named Lipitor
Now litheferous purporting life
They seem to heal the old wounds
While offering no hurry-up!
Oh youth, mad youth
Stream a slimy serum into these veins again
Until in broken down age
You swim in lost arise
Bring back the joy of drugs
Until my clock breathes again
Unfurelled as my neck used to be
Victor, I never experienced any "joy of drugs" during my youth
but in my senior life now, the Lipitors and other drugs I take
help maintain my "joy of life". So take your heart drugs and
enjoy your new life, too, my friend.
victor, i have always said it was a good thing i gave up the fun drugs in time to pay for the necessary ones...God help me if i tried to afford both at this age. i enjoyed this
