Our days on earth; very brief, We muddle through, then we die, Life gives us thorns and much grief, When we are gone some will cry. Send not your tears heavenward Restrain sorrow for those who count, Tears for the dead are absurd, We’ve lived our life to give account. Its children we should weep for prepare them for the pitfalls, Whether in love or in war, Save our tears for children . . . all. ©April 14, 20018 / Jerry Pat Bolton

I agree with you. It may seem callous, but grief should be very short and the living should get about the business of living and not spend much time remembering the dead.
