Pink elephants dance on the bedsheet,
Brown teddy bears wink at me,
And I feel drowsy as I yawn,
Struggling to pursue my bedtime story,
To my daughters who remain avid,
Reminding me to speak clearly,
To show respect to my audience,
As I try desperatley,
To keep my eye-lids from dropping,
Into the arms of sweet sleep,
Calling onto me beckoning-ly!
do not listen to the steady cadence of their breathing, do not breathe in the sweet scent of their hair or you won't make it past page 2 before you are asleep too!
