In the darkness She stands tall and proud
Her eyes shine like an icy blue xenon beacon
That fiery hair her head doth enshroud
That beauty that makes men’s knees weaken
She wears the claddagh but hides if from sight
She, like Brighid, gives hope of new beginnings
She is Saighead that goddess, the Maiden in white
Nurturing Poets, hearth, martial arts and healings
Her tongue is sharper than any arrow or spear
Her knowledge like Fin’s encompasses much
Stop, look and listen lest you forever disappear
Never to know her smile or her gentle touch
Compared to her, Cuchulainn was a weakling
And that beauty, Cliodhna was oh so plain
Though these are myths she is the real thing
And those who love her still sing her refrain.
