Romeo is on the corner
Looking up, singing his song
Tells Juliet that he loves her
But she just won't sing along

Everybody has a story
There is always room for more
And I said, “Romeo don't worry”
Cuz you’re the one that she adores

So many times he's heard this sad tale
Lovers lost, far from home
Now it seems his ship has set sail
As he roams these streets alone

(chorus)

I hear old Romeo crying
How it's wrong to feel this pain
Cuz he feels like he's dying
And it hurts to say her name

So now these streets feel colder
Familiar shops won't invite him in
Those days are gone; now he's older
Been here before, just not sure when

These memoriez they dwell in shadows
Crouching in these shattered frames
Dusty pictures held by Romeo
As he tries to recall their names

(chorus)

So Romeo has gone away
Left Juliet to seek his own
Though he'll be back someday
And she will never know

No one's left in the old town
All these friends went separate ways
Each with ghosts that bring them down
When they think of yesterdayz

There's still young lovers at the town hall
At 3 a.m. Romeo can see
The truth that's written on the back wall
He's in love with a memory

(Chorus):
And then she tells him that it's over
Long after the end
He can't remember what he told her
Just always thought they'd be friends

A sad tale of two people who once cared for each other growing apart, and maybe not even knowing it. You write about it darn well, John Grubbs! (:D I remember being like this! Well done!

Peace. Joyce

If they cannot be livers, then be friends. I guess the memories always stays when two are good friends.
