Glad to have gotten the old creative juices flowing… and brought back some memories of things we dare and dare not do. The poem was not meant for anyone to challenge what I've done––I have done those things––but the challenge each and every poet to go beyond their comfort zone and try new things.
For example, if Jerry would hug a tree, he might find the texture of the sycamore compared to a live oak quite different, as I did as a youth shimmying up and down long stretches of trunk without any branches. Or he might find that the snake feels wonderfully like polishing an old pair of alligator boots, except with live muscle underneath, feeling the strength of the snake is quite wonderful. Those that are afraid to touch snakes are missing one of the most wonderful feelings there are. Black bears, like the ones that I have confronted more than once, are more like big curious dogs, and the more you intimidate them, the less they bother you. Don't worry, they'll only bite to get that ice cream from your hand if you don't give it up to them.

& when I feel this vibration I have to hug it :D
sometimes I feel the furnace too, but I don't hug that...
