Excellent tribute for people who serve food to others for a living. I try to give more than the average tip, especially for exceptional service. Sometimes I even give them copies of a book along with cash for a bookmark. Smiles of thankfulness usually abound. One time all the folks at our table took up a collection for one who was having a hard time paying the rent that month. It was more than enough and sh always would smile and thank us long after that day. Well done Jane!
Reads like from experience. My mom lived that life for many years. Stopped at the counter she served one time for a hamburger. Best waitress I ever had… Filled my coffee before I asked. I gave her a big tip.

Nicely done, Jane. Much in the way of local colour here, a touch of the salacious flirtation, a hint of all the hard work involved, and a hush of the rush to slow down as homeward bound freedom awaits at the end. Good mixture of imagery. Nice unity of rhyme... from 'job' to 'Rob'... There's a whole 'nother poem in that cat's name!!
Hah! This is cute, Jane. I hear you talking, for a waitress there is always somebody, or some thing to feed. Good to see you posting again, haven't seen you around for a while.
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
