Autumn!!

Poem Artwork

Gloomy day
Darker clouds are looming
Thunder will be booming
Before the day is done

Air's so wet
Cut it with your jack knife
Lazy time in my life
Sometimes a rest is won

Northwest winds
Bringing in the cold air
Can't wait to get out there
Until the setting sun

'Saw a witch
Flying on her broomstick
Went down in the Marsh thick
She's ready to have fun

Let the lightning flash.
Let the thunder boom.
Me thinks it's time,
for that witch to get off her broom.

A gloomy day. Looks like time for mischief. Would thee be that witch, perchance?

That ancient oak reminds me of the one I used to climb behind our property in West Virginia to its lofty location overlooking the new highway far below. Only that tree was surrounded by huge branches on the ground that had fallen over the years from the weight of snow and ice and wind storms. I couldn't even fathom how old that tree was. Perhaps native people camped under its branches for white man ever came.

Gloomy days have their own charm, particularly if you have a witch sighting. Watch out for that broom. John

Nothing like having fun in the Marsh, take a stroll down there and enjoy it with her.
