Definition of beatnik : a person who participated in a social movement of the 1950s and early 1960s which stressed artistic self-expression and the rejection of the mores of conventional society; broadly : a usually young and artistic person who rejects the mores of conventional society

Don't trust anyone Over thirty, son Establishment be they From them stay away Coffee house tonight Place is out of sight Far out lit'rature Writer's life endure Hippies are my child Peaceful loving mild Their philosophies Make love not war.....peace Jane Noponen Perinacci

I DO REMEMBER THE BEATNIKS, OF COURSE. THEIR PHILOSOPHIES, AND WAY OF THINKING AND LIVING, ARE STILL GOING ON. THERE ARE NUMEROUS GROUPS THAT ARE REALLY SEARCHING FOR THE SAME THING; THE PERFECT PEACE OF UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, WHICH CAN ONLY BE FOUND IN ONE PLACE...AT THE CROSS. THANKS FOR SHARING, JANE. Yes! I was a wannabe hippie but I chose to go to university, get a job, marry, buy a house, have children... ...well, you get it. I don't regret it though. Nicely done, Jane. Love and peace to you,

I really dug their attitude and poetry. Didn't dig their clothes or their lazy lifestyle. Spent many a time in coffee houses listening to poetry and folk music but never recited one of my poems there--probably just too lazy. ;-)
