You are what we used to call a "scaredy-cat." In my entire youth, I can't remember ever going to bed anywhere that was scary. Perhaps it was because my twin brother was always there--sometimes in the same bed--so I was protected by numbers. ;-)
Our eyes play tricks on us in the dark. I've woken up many times, still half asleep, and seen movement in my bedroom with my eyes wide open. I tell myself that I'm still dreaming. I blink and the shadows disappear.
Those creepy crawlers of the night are terrifying when we are children. I always wanted the "night light" and also wrote a poem about it. Thank God when "Morning has broken."
I remember times like these, though mind was a big witch outside in my back yard. Though after all it was just a shadow created by the house next door & then were all those night frights of thunderstorms, & the dreams that then ensued. One was a bear on our ocean side porch, but that is memory I don't want to think of. This brought back memories even some that were unwanted...:) -e-
