What was that
There saw it again
The dead leaves pile
Something within

Like breathing
Heaving from beneath
Shadows of trees
Myst'ry bequeath

Wind howling
Full moon deep blood red
They're rising up
The cursed undead

There might be one beneath your bed!

Shades of Halloween in Midsummer heat! You certainly are in a cold dark mood with this one. But I seem to recall how the swirling leaves on a blood moon night can give one the impression that all of the dead in the world are still climbing towards the surface and finding ways into the crevices of our body and the deafness of our ears to penetrate our darkest fears.

Shudder. Shake it off… It's only a poem.
