How I feel my life is right now, just thought it would be better.

Woke up this morning thoughts scrambled like eggs.

Feeling like there are so many things I've missed in my life.

The big picture I saw once husband, child, house with the white fence.

                                         Just a fairytale.

                                   Life in the distance

Starting to fulifill my dreams  as a writer living it up what a joke.

       further away with every step.

                                         Life in the distance

wishing like Dorthy in oz to just go home.

Get off the rollcoaster ride that right now is my reality.

                                     Life in the distance

                                    For real or fake?

How much more disappointment must I take.

                               Pure and simple

                                        Life in the distance

the one I pray for every night the good side of

                                  Life in the distance.

You have beautifully expressed the lot of over half of Americans.

I must ask you to stay focused on your dreams and try each day to get out of the rut of wishful thinking and into the idea of moving in a new direction with power and purpose that no one does for you because it is in your own grasp. By taking small steps, you will accomplish much if you don't give up and fall back into doing nothing or someone else's hands.

"Life in the distance/the one I pray for every night the good side of/Life in the distance." An optomistic note with which to leave off, Carolyn. This poetry resounds with honesty. You have captured the falacy of the "American Dream," phrase of which I find offensive when what citizens now are just wanting......"the good side of/Life in the distance." not anything superhuman or glitzy, . . . . just not "further away with every step." Very good write. ~~ Diana
