She’s been there a long time

Shielded from the sun

Burrowed deep in a pit in the ground

It all came crashing down a few years back

Or maybe it was longer than that

She can no longer remember

Except to know that life as she knew it

Broke into shards of sedimentary rock

And through her fragmented lens she realizes the truth

Long forgotten and not even a number anymore

She shivers and she sighs and she goes on

The hustle and bustle the same…the same…the same…
