The Choice November 3, 2012 It was a long hazy road Stretched out for miles Yesterday rolling by in dust clouds Today blowing forward with the western wind My ears pricked I heard the spurs digging in the sand And he said I thirst But all I see is a cactus behind you The bar in front of me So let’s go have a drink I looked up at the agate sky The bitters of night approaching Big Dipper bending down Lower, lower, lower I went to make my reply Speaking to my shadow And slowly I walked on
