Have You Every Been Alone
Have you ever been alone Without a friend to call your own? At school I walk among them all Without someone that I can call A friend I reach out to them and smile the best I can But no one seems to care They walk away or shun me As if I'm not even there. All I want is someone to be with or talk to, A friend Should it matter that I'm not good looking A gifted student or athlete? I'm plain and dull in many ways But my heart still feels the pain When I lie awake at night And pray that I might gain A friend Or at least someone who will talk to me And not just face away. I want to belong somewhere Or else I can not stay.

I think anyone can have a friend if they just stay active where others are and not just see places where they are alone all the time. Someone will notice that they are alone and befriend them. Many times, in my youth, I befriended others who I saw alone. They became my roommates, confidants, and assistants as I helped them gain confidence to go out on their own.

It's a sad fact, but these words are true. You said exactly what is in the hearts of kids walking the halls of school, and I'm sure adults too, somewhere.
