The people that I've known that have kicked addictions, like when my father stopped, cold turkey, in the middle of the pack in the middle of a carton. He never outgrew his need for alcohol, though. People like him and those I've met since, have suddenly realized their plight and snapped out of it. I don't think all the programs, drugs, and therapies out there do much good unless the person really decides to leave the trap.

Addicts usually have enablers that keep them addicted, particularly the obese that can't leave their beds. Remove the enabler, and the addict will see the light.

Many have addicting personalities, born that way. I f they truly wish to change their habits there is help for them, all they have to do is reach out and ask...Good write, George.

Goodness, well I suppose if the addiction
affects your health then it becomes a problem...
To lose hope though is a sad state of affairs...
Not everyone has the will and fortitude to overcome
obstacles yet some do... For those who don't prayer for
them is the best answer for if many are in prayer it surely
helps.

Addiction is sometimes physical but often it is rooted in our psyche and THAT is the hardest to beat....easy answers? there are not any and never have been or will be. Well expressed with words to ponder for all of us..

I stomped a syringe into millions of pieces in a dirty Esso Service Station (remember them?) in Mobil, Alabama and broke my addiction for drugs and a looming death. So I'm a survivor. A proud one.

What happened a few days ago has shattered me to the core. I can't wrap my mind around it. But I will, given time. Still, I fear for America because we have become lost sheep . . . No pride. That is the first thing that goes, pride. We have allowed a Muslim to become president twice now, and he has done nothing except belittle America and weaken it and is systematically destroying it.
