Trails End

Last of the moments

That brought any joy.

Sad and dispondent,

Silence can annoy.

 

The trail is not dusty

As it used to be.

But the emptyness

I can still see.

 

An old cow hand

Knows that part of life.

Eating dust on the trail

Waiting for its end.

 

Gone are the druken days

At trails end that I had spent.

Parched throat needed

Something to wash it away.

Like the Hollywood producer said to the old, washed up, cowboy actor, “in this movie, I want you to ride off into the sunset and keep riding.

But the sun hasn't set yet, so keep writing.
