Routine Mountain Climb

It was a routine mountain climb

Just to limber my legs and test my lungs.

We had reached our first summit

When the winds picked up and temp dropped.

It began to snow heavy and we called a halt.

Set up camp till this blew over.

By morning the storm abated.

We got our gear and proceeded.

By mid-day we reached a plateau,

And decided to set up camp for the night.

Deep snow made the journey tiresome,

So we needed a nights rest .

Morning was clear and windy,

As we trudged towards the peak.

Within the hour we were at the top,

And wasted no time in our descent.

I never bivouaced on a mountain, because all of my climbs were in one day. The primary reason for camping on a high plateau is not because you are tired, which you are, but because your body has to get acclimated to less oxygen in the air.

These Black and Blue Red Zone Days by Aberjhani

Just as life during the pandemic was color-coded with different hues representing different levels of danger, life in its aftermath has become shaded in similar ways. As a self-styled “Seeker of Beauty with Beauty,” (borrowing from a quote by W.E.B.
