Walking is not a pleasure anymore. Arthritis is what is causing me all the discomfort. Right hip was replaced 20 years ago but pain is back and now left hip needs attention. No drugs for pain. Age has its problems.

Saw the doctor,

Many xrays taken.

Both hips examined,

Arthritis won the game.

Right hip was replaced 20 years ago,

So doc will leave that alone.(Hurts)

Left hip will get an injection next week,

Hopefully that will lessen the pain.

In the mean time the pain

Will just be treated with acetaminaphin.

No drugs to take, thank God.

Guess I can't complain at my age.(Who Says?)

What the hell, George, as old as you have been granted to be by God, as you said you cant really complain, but again at your age you should be able to complain all you want...good on you for not taking drugs to ease your pain, as I am 61 and always keep some powerful drug around, just in case...-e-

I'll join you in old age aches and pains, I've got them also, slowing down considerably in this start of the year in a few months time. Glad you shared this poem with us, it makes me feel not so alone in my problems with aging, too. Take care.

If you try,
You'll only slip and trip.
Old age has you firmly,
In its grip.
So take it slow and easy,
you're now considered hip.

I took that hip exam one time and found out that I was way behind the times… Nevermind… ;-)

You can be commended for not having to take pills. It's so easy to follow doctor's orders and take them. My mother is faced with the same problems. No more replacements at her age.

I find that exercise eases my pain, but I have no arthritis that I know of, mostly just pain from constant muscle spasms and edema. You might try gentle stretching exercises (you may need someone else to help you do them).

You are a pretty hip guy, George!
I am also very limited on pain meds. There's one that was helping with my foot pain, and I was feeling good, but now my dr. said I shouldn't take it any more because of blood-thinning effects.
So we go on without it, you and I, and lean all the more on God. "He is my refuge and my strength."

Love,
Connie

I hope you find some comfort and that nothing aggravates the situation further.

It's about how middling we are and middle means middle only like a big middle and class isn't school and outing's not a trip.
