Breathing into Stillness
When my thoughts are less
important than the wind, I hear
the sway of lemongrass,
the clacking of bamboo, palm
sighs and rooster calls, truck
gears grinding their way uphill,
the roar of silence in my inner ear–
a wave of sound that ebbs
with every burst of breeze.
I notice the dance of wing
on coconut frond, a dash
of scarlet as cardinal lands
on banana leaf. All this happens
in the sacred space
that welcomes everything
to its field of movement
within stillness, a stillness
that permeates each breath.

Things come alive in silence.
I enjoyed this.
