Curve in a Rock

Old age has crept up on me

 

Curve in a Rock

Liz Larrabee
 
If I were twenty one with verve
with muscle tone
and sturdy bone
 
I’d find a rock to suit my curve
a granite one
in autumn’s sun.
 
I’d lie embraced in its warm fold
in hollows, breasts,
my arms on crests.
 
There I would dream of growing old,
of futures past,
love that would last.
 
And there I’d wonder what ‘twould be
I’d wish I’d done
At twenty-one.
 
I’ll wait and see.
.
