Lost In the world tonight

To the window darkened by life I walk
in the shadows of the new world
I feel all the pain from taking her
to live in the sandbox of dreams

Lead laden clouds bring on the rain
World walker takes her into the impact
of saving the nature keepers from the pond
in the glass of a bottle of beer I let the
tired old dreams subside

I will let this envelope escape to the
wander of sleep from the shrine of the saint
who was it that said I live inside your mind
could it be they lied to keep us out of the sane

I never promised you anything, you just took
me for granted, as we walked in the pouring rain
It is the sound of the whistle, as it slips past
the trees in the meadow racing sunbeams
apples falling down beside me taste the breeze
I pay her to tag along beside me acts like there is a need
the smile is still in her daydream as we search the sky

Cupped hands remember Sunday morning
Chicken lies in the pan. Enter laughter and hope
When the girls are off to sleep the bed gets warm
She cuddles next to me to ease the day's storm
Water pounds against the roof and the children
are safe in the house filled with future plans
love is the final answer knew you would understand

Keep me within the echoes of the cannon shrill
hear the soldier crying from on top the hill
Protect all that I love, can hear her praying still
Each day falls to the elder who is looking
To the stream of little children playing
much to real to be a dream

She said dad I love you well but I must leave
Steve is waiting at the tavern, drink and happy time
Found myself wandering in a graveyard
Looking for her stone, mind is weak reminder
This far gone I guess I better head on home
Following the path she left for me in lightening of the falling stars
