Eve and Mary stopped to review, man and womans role, obligation placed
At the gate they stood Wrapped fingers and mind Each with an understood Holding the fate of mankind Thoughts jumped stages divine Woman must still take the burden Raise the child in constant pain Soul ripped from the owner See the window in the mist Both given a heavenly kiss One created the other born So much they share talk alone From the tips of wonder Age and strife in mind and life Two of the rest to wonder Which was the cut which the knife Skin burned by the sun Each looks at the other Who was the lucky one Savor the moment of questions Loved by both the father and the son who will falter man or woman They laugh together holders of the love soft and gentle rests the dove Their lines see the role Each takes the burden Each comforts a soul Woman caries the pain From the garden To the cross Hearts break But love is not lost
