Porch light on I sit with my books and treats
Time to pass on to the children of my life
Time plays the last farewell in starlight
Hurt and pain dress in the rabbit fight
Show you face in the red war paint of treat
Shallow bag-waiting snacks from neighbors
Football stars dance with ballerinas on streets
Willed with demons and hobos seeking fun
Witches place their hats pointed sky ward
Bags filled with every kind of bucket brew
Angels walk with devils this night of fright
Each seeking a neighbors smile paid in full
Fear still finds a place in all we see as the world
Has shown there are real people in need of hurting
Day turns to soap and bellies swell teeth ache
As parents take view of all the treats fall down
Magnets and X-ray search for unfelt torture
Skip the truth as many dance through the sweet
World is not any safer today than the day before
Slip and slime dance in the back yard and the street
Weapons of pride and love still hold back childhood
Parents caught in protection mode and watch burn
Great is the feel of freedom as the daughter snuggles
In the arms of a father safe from the real demons
Searching for a place to stop and take real to die
First little girl runs and gives me a hug forgets trick or treat
I give her a Disney book on sounds and Mc Donald's coupon
Mother smiles from the sidewalk and she runs to the next house
Youth knows little or no fear in the dance of early life it must be learned
Not into halloween myself...but!!
