Our lifes are filled with people passing through some impact our lives more than others. This poem is about such a person. Walt

Wandering through the pages of life
I stop to write a line or two

It is a long trip
and now and then
I think of you

The impact of a child’s life,
The mark is bold and clear
and here it is underscored

She was a beauty
lost in dreams
of yesterday

and I was
not much more

just a lost soul
trying to find
his way

We walked down life’s path
hand and hand
this child and I

Taking nothing for granted
loving every blue sky

Talking to the squirrels
as we lay under maple trees
feeling every warm breeze
as it flirted with the leaves

kicking up the sand
along the deserted beach

whispering sweet thought of love
in her ear

We were so alive then
there was nothing that
we feared

Hand in hand
We wandered
through a myriad of dreams
never once stopping to hear the
warning screams

I was a dreamer
and you my love
of life

together

we were marching
neither left nor right.

Somewhere in the middle
that was what
we were all about.

A dreamer
and a lover
of this
there was no doubt.

Somewhere in the darkness
of a sad and lonely night

The beauty of what we shared
took flight

No mater how hard
we searched
We could not find it there

It was almost
as if, it were a race
between
a tortoise and the hare

For I was seven years older
and you
just a child
of twenty one.

The dreamer
and the lover lost
in the setting sun.

My youngest son
and I
are sitting underneath a maple tree
and I hear a squirrel
talking to me.

The breeze
it still flirts
with the leaves

and I smile when
I think of days that
use to be

When I was dreamer
and you
a lover
of my dreams

Steady in my path
travel through dreams
and hope the love
will never end

Doors unlike windows
swing both ways
and soon I will be
moving around another bend

Still inside my memory
there is a special place
for once there was dreamer
and a lover of his place
