Spider

Tiny spider there in the sand;
   Does it matter if above you I stand?
      In the scale of All Things,
         We are clearly brothers.

Are your concerns so different from mine?
   We both are bound to the demands of time;
      Do you also know this will end?
         We are clearly brothers.

Do you envision a god to light your path?
   One day rewarded, the next subject to his wrath?
      Does your god also speak in riddles?
         We are clearly brothers.

Brief our encounter, guided by mere chance;
   What music do you hear that prompts your dance?
      Do you grow weary, and often despair?
          We are clearly brothers.

Is loneliness for you a recurrent curse?
   Do you sometimes fear nothing could be worse?
      Do you move on despite all this?
         We are clearly brothers.

Despite many enemies larger than y ou,
   Do you serve what you call Truth?
      Surely you grieve when none seem to listen;
         We are clearly brothers.

Takes rare courage to venture so far,
   To follow what's revealed by your guiding star;
      Constant motion required to survive:
         We are clearly brothers.

Tiny spider there in the sand:
   I take from this Joy beyond my plan;
      I will remember as this day passes:
         We are clearly brothers.
