This poem I wrote waiting outside a doctors office near the riverside. Sun was shining and the town looked beautiful.
Laying still by the banks of the riverside
Stands a cute country town to be
It’s name is Moruya where I reside
Close to parks , beaches for families
High hill top mountains staring back at you
Fresh clean brook river’s to ease your day away
Grassy green paddocks cut freshly new
Grab a line and a hook, catch a fish of the day
National parks to wander and explore galore
Aboriginal middens to discover all around
Sight see activities for everyone and more
You must come to visit this little country town.
Moruya town s hip has an airstrip
Only a regional one for now
Flights are not that cheap
But you might be lucky to get a seat
You will make it to Sydney or Melbourne somehow
Our shops have lots of character
They are quaint on the busy main street
Take your pick where you sit to enjoy browsing
The menus offering many exotic flavours of food to eat.
You may ask the question
Do we have some noisy pubs?
I can tell you now , we do
There not extra modern, some downtrodden
We do get some noisy patrons too
We have lakes and plenty of beaches with sun blasting
Clear night time skies of stars ,
Glowing in the dark like candles forever lasting
Reaching high up, to venus, jupiter and mars
A big attraction you all cannot miss,
While being on the South Coast,
Jump in your car,
Drive 30 minutes to Narooma,
You’ll get to view the whales breaching up close.
So now you have heard all about this town of history
Maybe you feel like a small trip?
Don’t be stuck at home bored in misery
Come for a visit but make sure your well equipped.
