Today I saw a train that passed on by,
The graffiti on the cars caught my eye,
People had wrote their names on the abandoned box cars,
Probably on a sleepless night underneath a sky of stars,
As I looked at their names a thought came to me,
I wished love in this life lasted as long as the graffiti,
People today take love for granted and toss it aside,
Love used to be a true bond that was taken with pride,
Today it’s just a byword, and people don’t take it to heart,
And so many lives are scattered and lives are torn apart,
We say I love you in the heat of the moment and then it goes down the drain,
It is long gone like the long, whistling train,
And then we see the names of the ones, who couldn’t stay true ,
Their names are written, in pink, purple, red and blue,
And as I hear the whistle blow as that long train goes on by,
I pray for the people that wrote their names, and pray that their love don’t die.
