Today is the birthday

of a man 

named Jesus


Whose Mother 

had no money

for an inn

and gave birth

in a manger 

with no pillow

for her head


And everyone on earth

is in prayer

thanking Mary

for saying yes

as she alone 

was chosen to be

the holy vessel

of the most sacred soul

the world

has ever known


Shunned and turned 

away by all

Mary humbly 

accepted a manger

for her son Jesus

to be born

who would spend his life

offering everyone

heavens divine love


Mary Mother of Jesus

you gratefully answered

Gods call


And your son

will offer

through eternity

unconditional love

for all
