My Battered Heart Source: dolcemania My Battered Heart The rose drifts to the ground, Petals dry and wilting in the cold breeze. A death resembling the demise of my heart As an unraveling of feelings turns to dust. A shoe grinds the rose petals to oblivion, The preferred state of my battered heart. The wind lifts the remnants of the flower to circle around me with its dying breath.

The passing of a season, black roses, fallen colorful leafs, the crisp air telling of the season of a frozen death is coming. I enjoyed this immensely!

In a late autumn mood, the wind sweeps the landscape clear of dead rose petals that used to embellish a heart. This is indeed a very sad and lonely work of art like the image. Let us hope that come spring after a period of dormancy, that rose will bloom again, more brilliant than ever.

This is about as grim as it can get. Between the battered heart and the blackened rose, there doesn't seem to be much hope. But hope there must be and is. Time often tell a different tale than what we think.

memorable! strange how a sick rose is more intetesting poetically than a healthy rose. Like woody allen and his neurosis, more interesting than healthier carefree specimens of humanity... go figure! lol
