The hallway glows green.
It beckons.
Closed doors line the sides.
Cries fill the air.
A coldness descends.
Then silence.
I inch forward.
I peer into a room.
A wheelchair sits empty.
Voices echo in the hall.
I step into the hallway
and follow the whispers.
A door stands open.
Surgeons bend over a table.
They turn and smile.
I’m on the table.
The doctors stand above me.
I must escape.
A scalpel descends,
blood dripping
on my pale face.
Numbness entombs me.
Darkness welcomes me.
I shut my eyes
and succumb
to the inevitable.
Halloween has arrived
too soon.
