The call it cam tae me this day
telling me the latest news
and the distant voice sae far away
gave me the various views
o’ Mr Him and Mrs She
wha disagreed wi’ Us an’ We
they failed tae let the bygones be
forever in the past
and wi’ their Holy Book on high
did they, the first stane cast.
Seems Mr Him blamed Mrs He
for so the tale it goes
they niver ever did agree
and so it cam tae blows
and now Luve lies in death’s dark shade
within the sunless everglade
for settling wi’ the steely blade
ended a lyfe sae sweet
noo, wi’ their Holy Book on high
they lament an’ they greet.
I hung up the phones’ unhappy call
telling me the dreadfu’ news
o’ reasons’ most disastrous fall
and prides’ ever deadly dues,
for now another sacred soul
lies in another blessed throle
whilst chapel bell wrings weary toll
for gentle Missy She
and Master Him he dangles fae
the hangman’s tree.
