(Things undone in a span of years
Words unsaid ‘neath silent tears
That fell unseen in darkened places
Like bitter salt from down-turned faces…)
She is almost a memory now.
Pale reflections in some deep well
I think might once have been my heart
Before I stumbled there and did my part
To let her in.
I feel that I am guarded now.
In an armor crafted of her design
That I do not have the strength to wear
It rends my demeanor that I’m so aware
Even love can be a sin.
Excellent poem you write very well.

I'm not going to pretend that I know exactly what you are talking about but I have worked my own interpretation into this poem (isn't that what it is all about?). This poem speaks to me of thwarted love leading to pain of rejection and the fear of opening to love again. I KNOW what this feels like but love is such a splendid thing and a great healer. Thanks for posting this. If you feel like responding, please let me know what was in fact behind these words. Thanks
