A cold wind murmurs through the eaves
And tells its secrets to the trees
Of a summer so quickly gone
As I sit and wait for dawn
To break across the morning sky
And I sip my coffee as I ponder why
Those barren trees don’t wish to know...
They flail about and struggle so!
I could learn so many things
If only I could find the means
Of how to listen as seasons change
The lessons just beyond my range
Of secrets lost in history
And how they may apply to me
Through all those countless yesterdays
That led me where I sit today.
