Whew...

The sun came out at last today

And though it held no warmth

I felt it all the same as it lifted

My heart, cleared my thoughts

Like a fever that finally breaks,

Soothed a soul tormented and

Laughed at the rain that had

Fallen before it.

As a newly minted coin it shone above me,

A silver dollar resting on blue felt, I turned

My face toward it as a collector might and

Rejoiced in its rarity as I stood on my front

Porch, morning paper forgotten at my feet,

Oblivious the comings and goings of wind-swept

Leaves, I coveted what I didn’t even know I’d

Missed and felt myself able to breathe once more.

I sense a touch of Frost in your poetry. Robert, that is. He's my favorite.

Dear George,
The dawn is my favourite time of day and so the title captured my attention. The poem brought a satisfied smile to my face. What a unique descriptive way you have with words friend. I loved this wondrous offering. It reveals a sensual sensitive soul.
May you have many more of these special moments... Chanti
