Mornings are the best for me,

A time of quiet reverie

Of what the day may hold in store,

To forget about the one before.

Of what was said and what was heard,

Are all forgotten and absurd

In the light of what lies ahead

The past is gone the past is dead.

Yet in the stillness of my room,

Caught between the sun and moon

It can be easy to forget

If I have the wrong mindset.

So I take a breath and close my eyes,

Where shadows move like broken ties

Of the day I left behind

Like ancient runes in buried mines.

I try and focus on what’s in store,

The future waiting beyond my door

In a time that’s yet to come

Beyond the rising of the sun.

“But the future is a mystery,”

Is the thought that comes to me

As I frown with consternation

In this dream-like hibernation.

“So let it go and take what comes,

Make your plans and not fortunes

Because if the past is truly dead

Who can say what lies ahead?”

I enjoy the mornings best,

But pretty soon I must get dressed

And be prepared to face the day,

To face what comes, to face what may.

"Because if the past is truly dead
Who can say what lies ahead?”

Past is always hiding in the pockets of our genes.
What lies ahead is better if the cancer of our past remains in re-mission.

Omega Factor by John Henning

Take some time to walk outside of your own mind and into another, walk slowly and carefully; the mind that you step on might be your own.
