April rain cleanse the shadows from
My heart and melt winters frozen tears
From the deadened earth beneath my feet
That it may be reborn once more.
Let me feel the warmth of your caress
Against my upturned face, the scent of
Your renewal calling forth what I thought
Had been lost, hope regained in ozone skies.
Let the trees give bloom to clearer thinking
That I may hear that rain murmur it’s sacred
Oath to wizened branches, whispered promises
Of resurrection carried by a freshening wind.
And let me breathe a little easier as I stand
Among those swaying boughs, my soul
Rekindled by the simple complexity of
Raindrops cleansing frozen tears.
