I didn't really have this dream, it just seemed a good way to express what was on my mind today.

I had another dream last night

In which I walked a crooked path

Almost lost beneath tangled weeds

That choked the life from wildflowers.

And each step I took along this path left

Boot marks in the spongy earth to fill with

Blood as those flowers were crushed, the agony

Of my passing a cacophony of silent regrets.

But the weeds, though trapped by the roots

That bound them, skittered and groped for

Those scarlet pools, drinking deeply of what

I left behind, yet unsatisfied by what they found.

Knowing, perhaps, that dead things should be

Left alone, but drinking anyway, squirming

Like poison vipers or bitter memories wrought

By those whose thirst cannot be sated…

END

Left alone, but drinking anyway, squirming
Like poison vipers or bitter memories wrought
By those whose thirst cannot be sated...

Bad dreams... Silent regrets... get rid of both! Bitter memories formed from thirst... I like this, been there, done that. Some things should remain dead. Let Go and.....

Wonderful poem, George. It's not uncommon for some poets to stray into the dark for a little bit. It doesn't mean anything's wrong. It's just another side of your ability poking through the soil.

Glad you didn't have such a dark poetic dream, George, and I hope your real dreams are pleasant ones.

NICE. NOT the subject matter, mind you, but the poem. Great write, George, and I hope you have far more pleasant dreams than what you have been having lately! Here's wishing for happier or better dreams ahead!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :)
